Depression... The shadow without the light
I am addressing the subject of depression because there seems to be an epidemic of it in young people today. The Indigo phenomena was little know and hardly talked about a few years ago , but thanks to people like Daniel Jacob, Doreen Virtue, Lee Carol and Jan Tobler it is now more widely understood.
The first wave of these children were part of the so called generation X and some are now in their 20’s and 30’s. They are disillusioned and find themselves searching for a greater purpose in life but feel like the world isn't set up for them. This is correct they have arrived on a planet which has not yet evolved to their level of sensitivity and knowing.
They are often wise beyond their years and have trouble conforming to the ways of society.
They may feel out of place in today's world and perceive the world differently than previous generations. They have strong intuition and are often clairsentient, telepathic and/or clairvoyant. The current education systems are not set up to accommodate the way they need to learn and study. They often feel misunderstood when you try to talk to people about what's real and feel isolated and alone in their beliefs.
They are emotionally sensitive and most of them have built in bull shit detectors. They know when they are being fed crap but often feel helpless to do anything about all the lies and deception. As a result they may try to shut the incongruent world out. Some resort to drugs and alcohol to do this, while others simply shut down emotionally.
While we are struggling to evolve and grow spiritually, these young adults are already hardwired and equipped with the software and operating system for the new Earth. But Earth is not there yet. They have arrived ahead of schedule and are waiting for earth to catch up. They may not be completely aware of it, but they are here to challenge us, make us aware and prepare the earth for the coming changes.
We all go through ups and downs in our mood. Sadness is a reaction to life’s struggles, setbacks, and disappointments. I recently went through a very quiet and introspective period after the death of my brother. This is considered normal and is a way to deal with grief rather than run from it. Many people use the word “depression” to explain these kinds of feelings, but clinical depression is much more than just experiencing sadness because of a personal loss or disappointment.
Some people describe depression as “living in a black hole” or having a feeling of impending doom. However, some depressed people don't feel sad instead, they feel lifeless, empty, lazy and apathetic. This is something that they will often try to hide, which can lead to isolation and deeper despair.
Whatever the symptoms, depression is different from normal sadness. Depression engulfs your life, interfering with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and even have fun. The feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness are intense and unrelenting.
Depression is not just the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain, and while it may be suppressed with medication, it is not cured with medication. Experts believe that depression is caused by a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. In other words, lifestyle choices, relationships, and coping skills matter just as much as genetics. However, certain risk factors make you more vulnerable to depression.
Feeling helpless and hopeless is a sign of depression, but is not the reality of your situation. The key to depression recovery is to start small and ask for help. Find people you trust and tell them what is going on. Having a strong support system in place will speed your recovery. Isolation fuels depression, so reach out to others, even when you feel like being alone. Even if you don’t completely understand it yourself, let your family and friends know what you’re going through.
They can offer you support but ultimately it will be up to you to empower yourself and pull yourself out of the abyss.
Make healthy lifestyle changes
Love yourself enough to make a personal commitment to some lifestyle changes. Making changes will have a big impact on depression. It is our resistance to change which is the root of continually feeling depressed, helpless and hopeless. Take small step and congratulate yourself for each thing you accomplish. Take a good look at your lifestyle. What changes could you make to support recovery from depression? The process need not be expensive, if you are willing to do some of the work. Some Self-help strategies that can be very effective include:

It is my hope that these suggestions will be helpful and inspiring to any one suffering from depression. I am not saying it is easy but I am saying that something can be done. Be willing to give it a try because you are worth it! You are not a soul to be lost. Archangel Michael fights for our souls, so next time you feel yourself sinking into darkness call on him. Imagine a thousand Arch Angel Michaels at your side and surrounding you. Ask him to walk with his hand on your shoulder wherever you go. He will help you through the darkness and deliver once again into the light.

Take a good look at your lifestyle. What changes could you make to support recovery from depression? The process need not be expensive, if you are willing to do some of the work. Some Self-help strategies that can be very effective include:
- End relationships which are destructive and do not support your personal growth.
- Forgive yourself for the past and begin living in the present. We are all here to experience the physical world. There is no judgement when you understand that it is just an experience. If you don’t like the experiences of the past then rather than beat yourself up, simply make different decisions and choices.
- Be willing to accept people into your life who are loving and supportive
- Clean up your space and organize your surroundings
- Get regular exercise. Don’t torture yourself, find something you enjoy such as Yoga, biking, running or a walk in the park… but get off the couch, turn off the TV and the video games and get out there.
- Prepare yourself for sleep and be sure your sleep environment is peaceful and free of disturbing electromagnetic frequencies.
- Foods can be healing. Learn about eating healthy whole foods and create a mood-boosting diet. Do not eat fast food or processed food. A Naturopathic doctor or Nutritional councillor can help you with this if you don’t know where to start.
- Find out about herbs and substances from nature which can help you. Natural herbs Flower Essences and Homeopathic remedies have no negative side effects. They can be extremely helpful in getting you back into the flow of your life.
- Take time in nature, do a walking meditation and take time each day to appreciate the natural world.
- Listen to soothing healing music.
- Practice relaxation techniques and guided meditation
- Be willing to recognize and release negative thought forms.
- Learn Reiki, QiGong, EFT or another form of energy work, so you can manage your own energy… or find a holistic health practitioner who can help you learn how to manage your own energy.
- Do something you love every day.
- Learn something new that is what you want to learn and not part of anything you are required to learn for school or work. Try to do this at least twice a year.
- Just Breathe! The breath releases a lot of tension in the body. When we hold or restrict the flow of our breath we stop the flow of emotions. Breathwork is a powerful way to release all those pent up emotions and get your life moving again. The breath expands you and allows room for spirit to enter. We need this connection to our spiritual self in order to thrive and survive. Its actually what we are longing for when we are depressed.
